After a dusty day of mowing, and floating cottonwood seeds covering everything and causing my eyes to hurt, I thought to myself, what better thing to do than go to the beach. It was sunny and 74 when Robert and I left after work. The drive up was uneventful, excepting some road construction on US31, which will probably be the norm for the summer season. Once we hit St. Joseph though, I noticed the temperature dropping alarmingly as we grew closer to the water. 70 … 68 … 65 … 61 … 59 … and then finally 58 when we pulled into Silver Beach. Now, understand, I just drove an hour anticipating at least a nice day (according the weather on the net it was!). But not to be dissuaded from the waters of Lake Michigan, Robert insisted that since we were there, we had to jump in. Oh gosh, it was freezing! It felt good to wash all that dirt and dust off and feel the energy that only moving water can bring back to your body. It has something to do with positive and negative ions – essentially increasing negative ions in your body is so good for you as it decreases your seratonin levels (which increases defenses against infection and improves blood flow). Anyway, all that aside, it was a great way to end the day, especially knowing that at the top of the hill, Cabana’s awaited … with fresh squeezed lemonade and other such delights.
The sun was setting as I stood looking out over the expanse of water. Robert captured this picture of me on my cell phone as the Nikon is still in the repair shop.
mmmm….I Love Silver Beach! It is seriously one of my most favorite places in the world. Glad you enjoyed it, even though it was freezing.
We should go up this summer sometime when we’re visiting. I’ve only been there a few times. I’d like to wait until it’s warmer though!
You should have done the “crane” stance from Karate Kid. That would have been an awesome pic in this setting.
I didn’t know the D70 was in the shop still. Are they building a camera for you from scratch? Glad you got to the beach. : )
i love you Joshua 🙂
yay for your day!
When we were in town a few weeks ago, Corey and I went to Silver Beach/Lions Beach and sat at the very lowest point of the rocks. We were an inch from the waves rushing in. It was magnificent! There is nothing like the natural ebb and flow of a lake or sea.
We must’ve been there for 2 hours, totally absorbed in the feeling.
Good day!
We miss your brain my friend!
