2010 Begins

Posted on Saturday 9 January 2010 by Joshua

I have spent the past two hours looking for a new theme for my site – you know, something new and fresh for the new year. Alas, I have come up empty handed. Not that this theme is bad or anything, but I just want something different. Rest assured… I will continue my search.

The other day I was at the bank and I was discussing the best way to say the current year with Sharon, the friendly teller there. We mutually decided that saying “TwentyTen” is much easier and “cooler sounding” than “TwoThousandandTen.” The latter just looks more formal written out. Another issue is that previously, we would say “oh-eight” or “oh-nine” for the year. Now it is “ten.” Sounds odd to me. Thus “TwentyTen.”

I braved the snow and drove to Kansas City for the OneThing conference this year. It was such a good time of refreshment and encouragement and motivation. The Lord is moving in the hearts of the students – this time of awakening has been amazing. One night I stood there and watched a lady get out of her wheelchair and walk. It was an amazing thing to see. Several hours later, she was still walking around, the wheelchair pushed to the side. Meredith grabbed me while I was up front in the sweaty mess of people, and asked me to come pray for people with her. It was pretty awesome actually, although i was a bit intimidated at first. She and Corey managed to ambush me and pray for me and prophesy over me as well. Very cool and encouraging. I love those guys. The messages were all very powerful and stirring. Mike Bickel and Lou Engel. Gosh… they are connected to the heart of God. The worship was fantastic, and of course we did Laura Hackett’s I Put on Christ many times at Mike’s request. New Year’s Eve found me jumping like a crazy man at the end of the night to Corey Asbury’s team rocking in the new year praising God. For me, there is nothing to compare to entering the new year in prayer and worship. I love it.

I had a great time staying with Robert at the Anton’s house. They are great people and have this amazingly huge dog named Madea – a Newfoundland weighing about 135lbs (so far). Robert has a great basement apartment, and of course, in true Joshua form, while Robert was delivering pizza one evening, I rearranged and cleaned the whole place. It looks much better though, if I do say so myself. I love Robert, but he is a bit design-taste challenged, so it is up to those of us who are good at it, to help those who aren’t, haha! Shawn and Angel, on the other hand, are quite the decorators and their house is very sweet. All in all, a great trip and I came back ready and refreshed, although tired from the journey back through the snow.

So now it is on to lots of goals and plans for 2010. One of my goals is to post more. We’ll see how that goes. And photos too… oh yeah!

More posts will be excellent. That’s a goal I need to pick up. If you want help theme shopping, I’d be happy to help.

You forgot to mention your most favorite part of the whole trip: coming home to Dave and I in the living room. That’s it, isn’t it? Your most favorite part? 🙂
